Battery / Fluorescent Lamp Recycling
On February 9, 2006, a new California State law made it illegal to
place any batteries or fluorescent lamps in the trash. Both batteries and
fluorescent lamps contain hazardous materials and present a threat to
humans and the environment when broken, landfilled or incinerated.
This law applies to all batteries and all fluorescent lamps, tubes and
compact fluorescent bulbs.
You can drop off fluorescent lamps and
all household batteries (except automotive)
at Orchard Supply Hardware, 5365 Prospect Rd.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
You can schedule a free disposal appointment for household hazardous
materials such as cleaning fluids, paint, pesticides and fertilizers, pool
chemicals, solvents, medical waste, and mercury thermometers, as well
as batteries and fluorescent bulbs.
Call the Santa Clara County Household
Hazardous Waste Program at 299-7300 or make an appointment online.
Get an early start on spring cleaning - take this opportunity to drop off your e-waste and other usable household goods/clothing with the Salvation Army.
